We Got a Puppy!
Benny
OMG we got a puppy and we are so over the moon in love with him! Benny is a golden retriever pup and we took him home at 7 weeks old. We knew we wanted to name him something ending in “y or ie” and we tossed around the names Charlie and Benny for awhile, before landing on Benny. He is literally the cutest puppy I have ever seen and is such a cuddle bug. He loves being held and loves to follow us around the kitchen. He is currently teething and biting anything and anyone he sees so we have to watch out for his little razor sharp chompers until he grows out of this phase. We have already started a few training techniques, and he is SO smart. He already knows how to sit and lay down on command.
Having a new puppy has been a ton of work, but we are loving every minute of it! Since he and his bladder are so little, we need to take him out multiple times a night, so we haven’t been getting a ton of sleep. We have been taking “shifts” so that neither of us get too worn out or sleep deprived until he can hold his bladder longer. We have had him for about 2 weeks now and I can’t stop taking pictures and videos of him. I wish he would stay this little forever, but I know he won’t so I have to document EVERYTHING lol.
1st Night Home
Benny was understandingly a bit nervous to be leaving his brothers and sisters and coming home with us, but he warmed up to us pretty quick. As soon as we brought him in the kitchen he started exploring and sniffing everything. After he got used to his surroundings, we introduced him to Bubbles (the cat), who wasn’t too sure of him right away. He did cry during the first night, but after that he totally stopped!
His 1st Walk & Bath
Once he turned 8 weeks old, we were able to give him his first bath. We had to wait so that he could start to regulate body heat on his own, so he wouldn’t freeze afterward. He LOVED it, and I definitely think he will be a water dog. We also introduced him to his leash this week and tried to walk him, but he insisted on chewing the leash and trying to walk himself instead. Oh well, he will figure it out eventually.
Like I said, I cannot stop taking pictures of him, so expect the puppy spam to keep coming for awhile ;) Benny even has his own Tik Tok, you can follow him HERE!
