Staying Productive in 2021

We finally made it out of 2020 - woohoo! I hope everyone had a great New Year’s! Most of us are continuing to work from home into 2021 and this is the time of year I like to organize my office space and prioritize what I’m spending time on. Since I work full time and also run a blog, I almost always use a calendar to plan for the week ahead. It’s easy to to get overwhelmed without a gameplan, and even more so while in the middle of a pandemic. I wanted to share my best tips for staying productive while WFH in these unprecedented times:

  1. Create a Plan - Taking the time to plan out your day or week will save you so much stress. I use my planning calendar on a weekly basis for planning both content and deadlines for my 9-5 job. This way I keep myself on track and if I forget do do something, I can refer back to my planner and adjust. I am a list person, so seeing what is on my plate for the week helps me visualize where my time needs to be focused.

  2. Make Time for Yourself - It’s just as important to work in some self-care and take time off from your hectic schedule. If you start to feel burnt out, it’s likely you won’t be very productive anyway. Take some time away to read a book, do a skincare mask, or go for a walk to unwind.

  3. Manage your Time - Weekends are my time off from my full time job, so this is primarily when I will work on content creation. I’ll typically knock out 3-4 projects at a time so that I can have time back for myself the rest of the week. The worst feeling is being stretched too thin, so I make an effort to get ahead of the week. If there is something I need to complete for content creation in the middle of the week, I will use my lunch hour, although I try not to. If I am trying to meet a deadline for work, I will put my phone in another room and silence it, and remove all distractions until its complete. It’s so easy to be distracted by your phone, TV, or even laundry waiting to be done while working from home.
