Why I Started a New Instagram

The best time to start a new Instagram is RIGHT NOW. Why? Instagram is trying to keep up with Tik Tok’s push of rolling out new features and giving small creators a chance to join the game and grow. If you go to your Explore page on Instagram and scroll, what kind of creators are being featured? For me, its creators under 10k on almost every Explore post. Instagram is trying its own method of allowing smaller creators to get discovered.

So, why did I start a new account? I created @madelinebajczyk back in middle school of 2008 and it was just a personal Instagram page where I posted whatever I wanted. I switched over to a creator account in 2020 when I started posting about fashion and beauty. I now feel like a lot of my followers are inactive or just uninterested in my posts since the switch. I saw a huge engagement drop lately (like I know a lot of creators have), but brand new creator pages are seeing amazing growth and engagement on their posts.

I created my new page, @maddybajczyk, just 2 months ago and already I’m seeing better engagement than on my account with 10k followers - crazy! Having a strategy while posting is also extremely important. I follow a strict schedule and posting strategy to maintain my engagement, while also appealing to possible new followers. Since small creators are being pushed out to the explore page, I am trying to do everything to maximize my chances of being featured there. If you click into your Explore page, you will see keywords right under your search bar. I’ve been trying to use these keywords in all of my posts to increase my chances of my post being seen, and I am slowly but surely starting to gain some traction!

I still have a long ways to go to get back up to 10k (where my other account was), but with my current strategy and growth, I should be able to get there by the end of the year - no problem. If you have been thinking about starting a new IG, now is the time to do it! I am definitely glad I did.
