Seven Magic Mountains

Chad and I took a half day trip out to see the infamous art installment, Seven Magic Mountains. The exhibit is visible from the highway and completely stands out against the tan desert landscape. This tends to be a pretty busy tourist attraction, so don’t let the images below fool you, I had to edit out a ton of people in the photos! ;)

Nestled in the Nevada desert, just 10 miles south of the Las Vegas Strip, lies one of the most Instagram-worthy attractions in the region: the Seven Magic Mountains. This vibrant public art installation by Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone has captured the hearts of travelers and photographers alike since its debut in 2016. Whether you’re seeking a unique day trip, stunning photo ops, or a peaceful desert escape, here’s why the Seven Magic Mountains should top your must-visit list.

What Are the Seven Magic Mountains?

The Seven Magic Mountains is an outdoor art installation consisting of seven towering stacks of brightly painted boulders, each reaching up to 30 feet high. The vivid colors contrast strikingly with the muted tones of the desert landscape, creating a surreal and magical atmosphere. The installation symbolizes the harmony between human creativity and the natural environment.

How to Get There

From the Las Vegas Strip, the Seven Magic Mountains is an easy 20-30 minute drive. Take I-15 South and exit at Sloan Road, then follow the signs to the site. Free parking is available in the designated lot. It’s advisable to visit early in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the midday heat and crowds.
