Seven Magic Mountains
Chad and I took a half day trip out to see the infamous art installment, Seven Magic Mountains. The exhibit is visible from the highway and completely stands out against the tan desert landscape. This tends to be a pretty busy tourist attraction, so donβt let the images below fool you, I had to edit out a ton of people in the photos! ;)
Seven Magic Mountains is a large-scale public art installation in the Ivanpah Valley, Nevada, about 10 miles south of Las Vegas. The installation is made up of seven colorful, stacked boulder towers that are 30-35 feet tall. The towers are painted and made from locally-sourced boulders. The installation was created by Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone and was produced by the Nevada Museum of Art and Art Production Fund. It took five years to create and was originally planned to be on display for two years, but is still standing today.
Seven Magic Mountains is such a unique art display, and it really makes you wonder how they were able to stack the boulders perfectly. If you are ever in the area, make sure to stop by for a fun photo op!
